what a rash, over generalising and ignorant statement from someone that should know better really, as a developer he knows what work goes into making a game to throw a statement around like this he just comes across as arrogant.
I personally think the quality of american games is slipping and turning into uninspiring rehashes of previous glories but theres still quite a few gems of pure quality there, the same applies to Japan the quality isn't what it used to be but the great games are there (some quite possibly the best games of the generation) it isn't just Japans games that arn't up to scratch the general games industry at the moment is decending a steady slope and it's getting harder to find the real quality amongst the bloated review systems and publisher pandering that exists now. Originality seems to be frowned upon and anything that doesn't tick the "basics" in terms of what reviewers expect is punishing the industry.
anyway on topic hope this guy doesn't get offered the oppertunity to attend this kind of conference again he's an embarressment to the industry
