Interesting indeed. One has to remember though that todays society was very much shaped using christian values, ideas and norms, although heavy alterations that has been forced to be made (such as accepting gay marriage and abortions) made people question the entire religion. Jesus on the other hand managed to escape as he's just considered, mainly by atheists, to be a man of his time that lived as an as good man as he could based on the then current values (females ranked below men etc.).
And most importantly: He didn't write the Bible, so pretty much anything he said and did could turn out to be false. Why criticize a potential fictional character?
