The dilemma with the "no true free will" question is that it's nearly impossible for a normal sane person to live as if he had no free will, because you would never have reason to question your own actions, you can just do whatever you want or feel like and think "this was meant to happen just so and I couldn't have done it in any other way, so I won't take any responsibility or guilt for anything I might have done wrong". Try it, it's almost impossible to act and live like you have no free will.

That's because that leads to not caring and that's not a good survival trait. Humans that feel they have control over their life will outlive, outbreed those that don't. Of course another big question is, what's the point of conciousness at all as a survival trait if you don't have any control. Is it merely a by product of the inner workings of your brain to facilitate communication.
