The highway should have some sort of ditch system between the two roads. That would prevent cars fromslipping between roads and it would prevent any rebounds off the rail. They have this system here in my area. Dozens of cars fall in the ditch every week. I'd bet it saved many lives.

Yea, whenever you don't even have a divider in between a highway or 50+ mph road then you run the risk of deadly head on collisions.  A lot of times drivers fall asleep then venture to oncoming traffic.  That is why hitting a barrier or going into a ditch is a lot better wake up then slamming into a big rig.  That is if you wake up.
