Lumines:  Vita: $35  iphone: Free (ad based) or $2.99.

everyone is saying this game is amazing and such but really?!?  really, really!?!?    i just don't think i can justify it on vita..

smaller stuff sure but it had better be priced like smaller stuff and apple has now set the standard on what pricing smaller stuff means.  this is the problem that vita/3DS will find moving forward.  how do they get design games and get the customer to understand that a higher price is justified.  for camera's it's easy, just but the tech specs in front of the customer.  for games were value is purely subjective...it'll be a challange.

You are absolutely right, a lot of third party IPs have already become devalued by cheap smartphone iterations. More and more gamers will become aware of this and will refuse to pay premium prices for something that is available for a fraction of that price somewhere else. This will shift the focus even more to exclusive games than ever before and pretty much only first party games are guaranteed to remain exclusive.

I personally don't think it's going to fall in line with the IP itself (as i'm think you're implying).  Loco Roco is first party but the game itself doesn't distinguish itself from rolando (imo) and i really doubt i'd buy it for vita.  i bought brain age for the DS but i'd never buy it for 3Ds when brain trainer is free on iphone.

first party games will get just as devalued imo by the cheap smartphone iterations unless the gameplay itself distinguished from what smartphones can do.  at the very least, my view of both vita and 3DS games has become quite devalued.
