Which might actually be a gamble that pays off.
NDS and PSP had total userbase of over 200 milions and tragic attachment ratio or 4-5 games sold per console.
Now if Vita is succesfull among core gamers only and reaches 20-30 milions of userbase but that userbase buys 10-20 games each over the lifetime of machine with let's say 1/3 of game sales coming from digital store at twice the profit of high street sales for publisher that would be very viable market to support with games.
