Another stupid article. ''Do indie games right, like Steam do.'' Err yea that would be XBLA. Indie games on steam consist of things like Bastion and Dungeon Defenders.
Seriously if the games he is making are too good for XBLIGs then I'm sure he could find a publisher.
There is a system in place where high quality yet small downloadable games can go. It's XBLA. Then there is a system in place where any indie developer can get there game out there. So he wants another system that sits somewhere between these two where it is free to put the game up and there is no publisher yet there is some sort of quality barrier. Of course we have no idea what this quality barrier would be. Apparently simply hiring people who would at whim decide if a game was good enough then google and see if people like it.
Honestly how exactly does he expect this system to work without creating VAST amounts of problems? Within a week I can see developers claiming that their game wasn't allowed onto it yet someone else's game that they think is worse was allowed on.
The system in place is fine. Why don't a committee of the bigger XBLIG developers get together and create a website that highlights only the best of the Indie games on Xbox Live? As it is I think the reason XBLIG games don't do so well is simply because trying to find out what is good is so hard.
All these indie developers constantly moan about how XBLIG isn't good enough yet I never really see any of them trying to do anything themselves. They just think MS should promote their games for them, highlight their games for them etc etc.
