iPhone wins the price category because you can get it on a contract. Am I missing something here?

Nope, I'm 100% entirely in agreement with you in that being bullshit. A two-year contract just to play games is going to eventually run you back a HELL of a lot more, especially since you're typically going to be virtually forced to add a data plan.

Not typically you have to have a data plan to be able to use the phone. It's kind of annoying but there would be practically no use in a smartphone without one.

Ah, really? Other smartphones don't require a data plan to use (though the phone companies will claim you do). They usually require data to ACTIVATE them (unless you flash 'em with a different ROM), but to USE them, there's no required data plan.

And there's PLENTY use for a smartphone without a data plan. I used one for a year and a half with no data plan and it was more than fine. I basically just couldn't surf the Internet outside of wifi access points. Not really that big a deal. You can still download and install all the apps you want and use Internet-related apps anytime you're near wifi.

Well then T-Mobile is a troll.
