Christmas has transcended its status as a purely Christian holiday, for many years now at least. It's practically a Capitalist holiday now.
I stopped caring for religion the moment I opened some sociology books, but I imagine once I grow much older I'll embrace it again.
Also I get the feeling Britain is only saying as such not to upset those of other faith, I hear the minorities there are quite...vocal.
