Those opinions were that of someone who was in fact wearing glasses. Nintendo fan glasses. And any fan glasses, much like beer goggles, tend to favorably distort what you're seeing.
I've been using the 3DS for about a year now and happen to be among those who really likes the effect, narrow angle, parallax 3D limitations aside, but the effect doesn't change the fact that the display is still about 3.5" with a 400x240 res which is less than the PSP from 2004. I'd go so far as to say that the 3DS main display doesn't compare favorably to the PSP-3000 from 2008, minus the interlacing issues.
While I think there's probably a bit too much ballyhoo over the OLED technology in the PSV, it takes some pretty thick fan goggles to even begin to compare it with the 3DS because the reality is, there is no comparison to be made.
But hey; I'll make my own better informed opinions once I have the PSV in hand in a few days and can do an objective side by side comparison in a variety of lighting conditions.
