People are a little paranoid. I'd at least hope that parents can talk with their kids.
I don't know about anybody else, but my parents would rent or buy games that I wanted when I was younger. They didn't like it when I played M games, but they would usually sit down and talk with me and in the end, say that they trusted me to make the right decisions.
lol, played Metal Gear Solid when I was like 10 or 11 and probably around the same time for Half-Life.
