Wait, you're telling me people are actually looking forward to an iPad3? For fuck's sake, didn't iPad 2 just come out this year? How much money do apple fans have to keep getting a new iPhone/iPad every year?

Last iPad came out in march 2011, and at the rate the tablet market is growing, apple need to release a new one to keep up with competition and demand. Oh, and I guess a lot of people get contracts so they don't have to pay in full upfront.

That's ridiculous. Unless the changes are radical, it doesnt deserve a new one so fast. I suppose an upgrade is reasonal if the difference isn't too much but I just don't see why people are so obsessed with having everything up to date, no matter the price, which then allows comapanies like Apple to throw half-assed "new" products which the consumer will eat up either way. You cannot compete with technology, because as soon as you get the new model, the next is already in the woks. I mean if you are always looking forward to the next model, you will never own one.

Actually the truth is that most people don't upgrade to the new iPhone etc every year. A large proportion of the upgraders are people coming off contract every couple of years so they get access to a new phone. The new phones come out pretty much when the old contracts expire and if a bunch of people buy in at the start of a new product cycle then a bunch of people will also be coming off contract at the same time.

The other significant reason why the new market for iOS stuff is so good is because the used market is also extremely stable. No other smartphone company supports old products like Apple does and their stuff is extremely robust. For example my friend sold his iPad Wifi 32GB and upgraded to an iPad 2 3G 64GB for $200 U.S.D. and my other friend bought an iPhone 3G which was almost 3 years old at the time, what other smartphone company has phones which are 3 years old that people would actually want to buy?

Tease.
