You mean those same "ordinary gamers" that are currently snatching up touch screen and tablet devices left and right like the iPhone and iPad? The Wii Pad IS Nintendo's way of continuing to expand the market, while at the same time trying to recapture the hardcore market that got them to where they are in the first place. Motion controls can only do so much... the people that are currently buying into Kinect are the same people that went nuts killing each other trying to buy the Wii a few years ago, and now it just sits there and collects dust for the most part. Wii owners moving to IOS/Android mobile gaming: fallacy. Why? Wii sales went down only because the lack of Nintendo games. Wii owners moving to Kinect: fallacy. Why? There isn't a single Kinect game performing Wii game numbers (just compare the sales of Kinect Sports x Wii Sports, Dance Central x Just Dance, Kinect Joy Ride x Mario Kart, x Wii Fit clones for Kinect x Wii Fit. Also many of Wii best sellers where don't have any Kinect clone (New Super Mario, Smash Bros, Big Brain Academy, etc. Wii collecting dust: fallacy. Why? I know the setup isn't necessarily ideal for everyone, but at the same time you can't expect Nintendo to force us longtime gamers to use a controller that's only good for very specific motion-controlled games and throwback 2D platformers without having to stick one of several attachments into it like the "nunchuk" or "classic" controller to play the games we love. We stopped playing games on console for two main reasons:
