Do you know how much I envy the guys at Bethesda? Sorting through code, reworking algorithms, and improving memory management is one of my favourite things. I just love the satisfaction of efficiency gains.

This may sound weird, or down right crazy to most people. But I'm sure there are some who agree with me: the kinds of people who enjoy complex math problems, or puzzles.

I loved that about my job, nothing better then doing some clever coding to reduce memory usage to 10% and doubling the speed. Forget about STL and rewrite things as efficient as possible in c by checking out the assembly code it generates. Minimize memory movements and cut the amount of processing by as much as possible.
Ofcourse for every success there are just as many failures or highly elegant solutions that don't gain anything in the end.

I wouldn't mind working on the memory management of a game like Skyrim. Everything can be improved with some clever bit shifting. My fovorite C operators still are << >> & |
