I thought a mountain lion was like a Puma (OS X 10.1). Anyway, I'm surprised they're releasing an upgrade so quickly. Snow Leopard (10.6) was out for what 2 years? before Lion (10.7) released. Lion just released this past July and by Summer, Mountain Lion will be released! |
Yeah, Apple is moving OS X to an annual release cycle, just like iOS.
Honestly, this upgrade feels like the most incremental update to OS X ever. Feels more like a suite of applications than an OS upgrade. Though for $30, it's hard to complain. I'm looking forward to iMessage support and Airplay, myself.
The most interesting part to me is that the China-centric upgrades warrant their own bullet point. China is Apple's fastest-growing market, and Apple is clearly determined to make the most of that.
