The irony is the Mass Effect is one of the least objectionable games on the market. The rating is probably too restrictive. I would actually rather have a younger player play this game rather then a game with no emotional impact beyond basic blood lust.

The game encourages discerning the difference between moral, and immoral choices. Actually allows players to talk their way out of conflict. Highlights ambiguity in the difference between what is right, and what is wrong. Hell one of the high points of the game is that a major goal is to make love not war. You know heaven forbid that a game promote a positive emotion over a base one.

I would say this if you think that Mass Effect is a bad influence on children who shouldn't have access to it in the first place. Then you must also consider the Bible as mere smut. However I have the feeling that the same people who think Mass Effect is evil are also likely to diligently expose their children to that book, but are also likely to take them out to shoot Bambi.
