PC/360 only games do have their place in some cases when strictly comparing certain consoles. For example, if I was comparing the PS3 & the PC, I think it would be appropriate to list Red Dead Redemption as an advantage for the PS3, even though the title is also available on the X360. It's not an exclusive by any means, but in a comparison between the PC & PS3, the game does serve as a contrasting entity between the two, so it should be mentioned. The same goes for PC/360 exclusives I'd say. If you're comparing the X360 (or the PC) stictly with the PS3 (or the Wii), then a game like Left 4 Dead is worthy of mention. Just my two cents on the whole thing. |
I get that angle - it's just it pretends someone considering buying a PS3 or a 360 can't also buy a PC. I guess the whole console exclusive is based on an assumption (which might be a fair one) that some people are strictly comparing PS3 to 360 for a purchase choice. I'm just of the mind that is a purely artifical choice - the option to buy a PC doesn't evapourate it's still there.
To me - which I suppose is pedantic but also dictionary definition accurate - an exclusive means "sole" - i.e. what games do I 100% have to purchase a 360 to gain access to. There is nowhere else to play Gears 2 or Halo Reach than 360, same for Uncharted 2 on PS3 or Super Mario Galaxy on Wii.
I'd say your point - which is 100% correct - is more about what games to you get on 360 or PS3 that aren't on the other - but this doesn't mean they are exclusive (for example Pixel Junk Eden is now on Steam - although it has been tweaked a bit so isn't 100% the same game but then I guess Gears 1 wa tweaked on PC too).
Again, I know it's pedantic, but there is a difference between exclusive and available - i.e. exclusive to a platform and available on a platform.
I guess it's splitting hairs but as a PC gamer too I find it a bit off imaginging the platform isn't an purchase option for some games.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
