I don't think it is possible to have another series that is creative-content based (rather than simulation based), has maintained as high and consistent in terms of quality, is released as regularly and has survived as long as the Super Mario series. While many series may end up surviving as long as Mario, I be most of them will have long periods between releases or have had a string of poor quality games.
