Play it with steath in mind, and not run-and-gun. You can run in gun in some places. But it's better sneaking around. By the way, the there are some long cut-scenes. But they are worth watching.
There's a 6GB install at the start that has a graphic showing Solid Snake, and if I remember correclty there the cut-scenes are part during the chapters of the story, as it goes along.
