Meh, the agreement between msft and Nokia probably has a term of only two years or so with an option to renew if both parties want to move forward as partners, I mean if android starts to dominate significantly further, then Nokia would be very glad that it would have the option of jumping ship. Also, on the acquisition, this will allow google to finally have a hardware manufacturer, so that it can do things like:
-offer mp3 players with a $20 prepaid card for google music, to entice consumers from iTunes, and it would help google+ as well, since music is a big part of google+'s strategy
-give google a hardware manufacturer to make google tv set top boxes, so that google can have another way to advertise to upper middle class consumers
-add motorola's patents to its own and start suing Nokia for supporting msft, but they'll probably word this as abusing googorola's IP. And I realize that google wouldnt be immune from litigation, but when I search for terms like "google Motorola patent defense" and every article is saying that this move would significantly help its IP position, then I would have to agree with the consensus.
-give google an android exclusive OEM, for tablets and phones, which google just hasn't had yet
I also understand your argument about google giving its phones a better quality OS, but if this would be a bad idea that random people on a games forum realize it to be, then why would they do this?
