I don't think we'll hear or see anything of significance this year, some small details next year and a release the end of 2014. By which time the Wii U will have a very strong foothold in the market, the PS360 will be selling around 50-60k a week and the NeXtBox will be just around the corner.

I just don't see either company releasing a new console in 2013.

Release at the end of 2014 would be way too late. Why would they come out so late, do you think they want to give Wii U the whole market?

With no announcement yet, Microsoft saying that they pretty much aren't going to announce anything this year and Sony saying the same, the Wii U will have at least 12 months as the only console on the market, most likely 18. At least, that's what it SEEMSS like currently.

Just like the PS2 was! Right? Because the PS2 launched about 12-18 months beforehand (depending on territory). On top of that, the Xbox was twice as powerful as the PS2 and the Gamecube nearly as much, so everyone saw the PS2 as a stop-gap to the real generati-BLAAAAAAGH
