Of course, that's what Valve do! They see a great mod, hire the one who created/works on it and makes a sequel! Portal, Team fortress, Counter strike are some examples.. Besides, they are doing what the community actually wants... Blizzard could've hired Icefrog a loooong time ago, maybe even Guinsoo.. They have done that in the past, but they did nothing with Dota.. They haven't done jack, but making Wc3 and a map editor..
