When I got my 3DS, I didn't buy any games for it until a week later. I just played my DS games on it to see how it was on the new system. Honestly, it was better than my DSi simply because of the circle pad. Controlling characters in Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days and Super Mario 64 DS was like playing it on the consoles. It was very nice and best part was that I didn't have to pay for it and I didn't have to sale them either because I wasn't able to play them. Also, I'm still buying new games on the DS so it really is a plus to have backwards compatibility on a new system.
By the way, DS games are region-free, so Jump Ultimate Stars is mine!
