I'll go ahead and give it a 10/10.
If I were being hypercritical, I'd give this game a 9.5/10 for not completely reaching my very high expectations. I'm a huge Gears of War fan; I even bought the Epic Edition for £100 on launch day... I expected it to blow me away like God of War III did, unfortunately it fell ever so slightly short, nevertheless it was by far the best exclusive of 2011 and one of the best games in general.
Pros:
- +Graphics are beautiful.
- +Pacing is great.
- +OST is more varied and memorable.
- +Great voice-acting.
- +Good story.
- +Great multi-player.
- +Varied locations.
- +Enemies are varied.
- +Beast mode is awesome.
- +The easter-eggs are hilarious! Epic sure love chickens.
- +Speaking of chickens, the ability to grenade-tag a chicken and watch it run over to an enemy in a panic and blow up NEVER gets old.
Cons:
- -It felt Unchartedified... It kind of lost its unique identity that made Gears 1 & 2 brilliant and reminded me too much of Uncharted, which is a very bad thing imo because I really don't like the Uncharted series at all.
- -WHY DOES THE LOCUST QUEEN LOOK HUMAN! I thought they'd reveal a bit of back-story about her.
- -It needed more epic set-pieces.
Please note: I've finished the single-player, played the multi-player extensively and the above is MY opinion, I do not wish to discuss it.
