Saw it in UK. Not sure if it was banned here or not. Personally hated it. Made me see gaming as a waste of time when I should be doing important stuff - and I like gaming so I didn't like that.

I suspect overall the context would be more negative than positive on average.

I would be curious why it was banned. Was it banned or simply discontinued?

EDIT: it was banned.

If I beat a game or a match (such as in chess or scenario in Civ3 or Advance Wars) then I actually feel like I accomplished something.  I know it sounds pathetic but it is a lot more satisfaction than spending endless hours on MMO for a stupid item/weapon or endless matches of FPS.  Sure I am guilty of getting into WoW and CoD WaW/BO on Wii but I eventually overcame those games and moved on.  I view those games as not an entire waste but preventing me from completing other games (which is another problem considering I have too many so I lose focus sometimes on what to play and finish).

While since I've played chess but totally get that.   Winning is Chess against a decent opponent is a heck of a buzz.  Basically you feel you've matched your intelligence and cunning against their's and after a lot of concentration your brain came out on top.  TBH I never really got into MMOs.  Tried WoW just to find out what is was like and soon grew bored.  EVE was interesting but hugely tough to play casually and also a huge time sink.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
