Apart from all the virtual products and ads through PSN Home?
The little ad window on the xbox dash isn't very intrusive and is almost always a game trailer, although you're right it shouldn't be there. Hopefully it's inclusion keeps the live fees safe from an inflation hike.
I hope it doesn't sound like I'm cheerleading, but I like knowing that the manufacturer's are turning a profit to spur on industry growth and keep my hobby alive.
The live subscriptions exist to enable Microsoft to sell a high-definition 'powerful for its' time' device and sell it below cost at a price that the market will adopt. Personally I don't mind this strategy as I'm getting a powerful device with great graphics as opposed to a more conservative approach sold at cost price.
