There are certain sci-fi series (Metroid somewhat, Mass Effect moreso) that women just devour. It's a simple point of fact! My wife is an example of it, but for the sake of this discussion it's more important to look at the communities she participates in, which are over 90% female as a rule of thumb. The really serious fans, fans of the characters and the lore, are increasingly female.
