that's not entirely true , many projectors and even some widescreen LCDs had that resolution (1920 x 1080 , interlaced , 60 Hz) without being "HD Ready" (that term includes resolutions of at least 720p + 1080i , HDCP compliant , at least 1 digital input HDMI/DVI )
your explanation only works for models made after the stardards for "HD" were specified
