Maybe Sony is just learning another lesson, this time from MS and how its marketing did wonders. And how does he decide the cost and profit of something which has a sliding level of revenue? ie; 4GB vs 32GB. He's not profitable on any size? Just on one size? An average size?
Yep, ps3 stopped losing money 3 and a half years in. That would be remarkably similar to what he is saying here, which would reinforce that it includes price drops. So, they plan on being profitable after at least one price drop.
I'd have rather heard from kowen, but he only responds to irrational responses. I dunno.

You missed my point totally. Kaz said he would subsidise other areas of the business from profits of Vita... then said Vita would be profitable in about 3 years time... so those other areas of the business have to wait??
Kaz also said TV's are the most important part of the equation and he will turn it round at all costs.
Kaz also said he is going to closely look at many production lines and stop making products that are a lost cause.
Its all very contradictory... and what I would expect from Kaz. He just says want people want to hear. He is actually a fanboy in charge of the company... very dangerous imo.

I'm not missing your point. You're missing the point that he is specifically talking about hardware alone in the one quote, and in the quote from OP, he says "profits from ps3, psp, vita are investments into the mobile business". He's talking about Playstation Suite, and a bigger move to mobile integration, like adding phone service to the vita, for example.
Yet you turned the latter quote into "Kaz is at it already.... in the OP he wants to use "profits from..... and PSVita to supplement other areas" to help growth."
