While I won't count them out until I see how the PS-Vita does in the west and we know what the PS4 looks like, I do think that there is reason to believe that it is far-fetched to believe that Sony could reclaim the #1 spot any time soon. With the Nintendo DS and Wii, Nintendo took a very different approach and adopted a very different strategy to what they were producing than the unsuccessful strategy they used before; in contrast, Sony seems to be tweaking their strategy under the assumption that a minor change will bring them to dominance again. Although Microsoft and Nintendo could "screw up" allowing Sony's same old strategy to be successful again, it isn't a good approach to have your success depend on your competitions' mistakes.
