Does Microsoft even do their own events? Like a Nintendo investor meeting? 

They do now, that's why they pulled out of CES

Do we know when its scheduled? 

No, they probably won't give much forewarning, bit like Apple. I don't see one until the Fall or maybe early/Spring 2013
