They are both to blame, so is Tetsuya Nomura. Wada is partly to blame for letting them take too long and spend too many resources on certain games. however this dosent have to be the end, they can still evolve what has been done and improve it in further games. the gameplay in FF13-2 is apparently an improvement. i still think that Mass Effect coversations, and Pokemon type monster hunting and training dont belong in FF, but if its good its good. its the story and the characters that are being criticised yet again. the other benefit is that Tetsuya Normua has receently said there is a secret team at Sqaure who are developing an unnannounced title that might be announced later this year. it was also rumoured eailer this year that FF15 would be announced at E3 for the 25th annivesary of FF. some fans have suspected that FF15 would be developed by the mysteriously absent FF12 team (only with less problems hopefully this time). and since it seems Kitase and Toriyama are rumoured to be developing FF13-3, i think this is a realisitic rumour for the moment. dividePower: depending on where you live, i think the price of the game is going to drop very fast after release. FF13's price dropped reasonabily fast, and this is a sequel to that, so i would assume you only need to wait a few weeks maybe a month or two until its in the bargain bin. i'm not commenting on the quality of the game, but i doubt i will get it until maybe its in the bargain bin which wont be long.

Oh I agree that they're both to blame, but I still uphold Kitase to a higher standard given his previous inputs in the FF series. For all the "westernization" that they were trying to achieve with FFXIII, he must have known at some point that some mechanics just don't fit with the mechanics of a FF game. I don't disagree that if those mechanics are good then they're good, but there should be a discussion if they do have a place in a FF game.
As for Nomura, it's so true that he takes too long developing games, mostly because he stretches himself thin over too many projects and never seems to have enough time for all of them, thus him having development spans of 4 - 5 years.
