After reading the article I came to the conclusion that the person reviewing this devise was not looking at it like a gaming console. It also compares it consistently to the ipod touch which is a poor comparison. I think that they had the same person review this as they have review smartphones and mp3 players.
With that in mind some of the complaints about the vita are accurate. The price for games can be expensive, but it is a console not a smartphone. Comparing the vita games with that of the apple store is a abomination. Whoever allow this section to be processed needs to have gamer do the reviewing for game systems. Of course the ipod touch/ipad has more games, but they are not of the same quaility. Games for cellphones/tablets are small games. It is a completely different market and comparasion. A better comparaion would be to that of the launch of the PSP, DS, and 3DS. I also completely disagree with the arguments on the size and the battery life of this devise and think it is better than what they portrait it to be.
Size
A more accurate review would know the size of the vita can be a good thing to simulate a control and to be able to have your hands around it so they will not cramp very much. Also comparing ipod games to vita games is a preposterous. Its as bad as comparing harvest moon to farmville as some people do. There is no comparison in size or quality of game.
Battery-life
The battery life is not as bad as stated in the article. Once again they are trying to compare this to the battery life of a tablet or a mp3 player. Which if listening to music its battery life is ~9 hours, for video ~5, and for gaming ~ 4.5 hours. With the hardware within the system that is not a bad battery life. Especially when you consider the power of the screen and the power behind the system.
Vita Cons
-Non Removable Battery (Batterys do die and this makes it difficult to buy a spare or third party battery)
-Game Price (I think that digital games should be cheaper since it does not have to go through production, also there should not be a surcharge for "premium games. Its ok that all the vita games cost ~$40, but games like uncharted cost $50 is not fair to the consumers)
-Proprietary Memory Card ( Sony is just trying to make cash on this aspect instead of using a basic SD card. This and their battery locked is a prevention for the user to not hack it. Its the price the consumers pay for their "security")
Overall whoever wrote this review I would rate a 2/5. They are trying to write out of their element, and needs to compare items to the proper source. You are comparing a gameing device to a smart phone. They need to learn more about the product they are reviewing before reviewing it. I would never review a product without knowing, and comparing it to its predisors. Next they will compare the new xbox, wii, and playstation to a tablet in terms of gaming power and game archive.
