Why compare the Ipod touch with other portable gaming devices? because while the Ipod touch is mainly a dedicated MP3 player it does other task and does it well, an overall muti-media hub.. its a great device for what it is.
I understand the Vita is mainly for gaming but in these days portable devices are becoming an all around multi-media, utility devices..
Vita as a gaming device is great for what is meant for, but as a multi-media device is mediocre at best (cheesy).
The Vita has a QUAD core cpu combined with a GPU workhorse can outdo any smartphone (nexus, iphone 4s) Mp3 (Ipodtouch ),tablets (IPad2) yet these portable devices do other things and do it better.
-I'm not hating the Vita at all, I'm actually buying one, the 3g model.. but other than gaming, I would want to surf the net (watch youtube), listen to music, take pictures, record videos ( camera under 1mp, no hd video rec.) when im outside.. all I'm saying, one of the main selling points of any portable device these days is how much can they multi-task .Vita multi-task review:
