Sony Vital is all but dead. I decided I won't be purchasing one and one of my best friends a huge Sony fan canceled his pre- order. Because he expects a price cut within months of release. For Vital to have a chance in hell it will need a cut to 169.99$ basic model 199.99$ 3g model. Or at best 199$ regular 250$ 3g.

Sony is DOA the device should have at least done as well as 3DS did at the 250$ price point. The fact it did worse leads me to believe it is either on its last legs or Sony is pre paring a cut. I suspect if sales fall flat WE that Sony will need to decide whether to take heavier losses by cutting price. Or call it a game and Dream cast the Vital. Lets face it in this economic crisis can Sony afford to sell a product at a heavy loss? Look at what it is doing to Nintendo. Sony's losses would make Nintendo's look like a walk in the park. Not to mention I have a good feeling within a month of Vista's launch many third parties will cease development as they did with 3DS. That will be the final blow to Sony's handheld industry.

I would like to see Sony cooperate with Nintendo if Vital goes down. Help Nintendo keep the handheld console industry alive. Though my bet is that Sony will shift its handheld resources to its phone business. A win against Nintendo this generation is nearly impossible. If Sony did win it would be after taking billions in losses.
