That article could, with extremely minor changes, be made to argue that the PSP would have beaten the DS. The fact is, the 3DS, like the DS, has two advantages that Sony can never overcome in the handheld market - games and a large established audience.
Vita will do well, it should even outsell the PSP. But it will not come close the the 3DS.
