Nintendo *Console Hardware : 9/10 +Durable Console, lightweight, many colors available (Japan only and a few in the West), comes with extra hardware needed to play with such as sensor instead of needing to buy extra equipment (HDMI cables for HD systems). Backward compatiable with GCN games. -Less choice of colors in the West, has more parts to connect than other systems (i.e. Wii Sensorbar , etc)
*Portable Hardware (Nintendo DS Lite - Nothing else): 10/10 +Small light system, decent amount of battery power, comes with several colors, good advertising from Nintendo and bundles, lots of new innonative features such as voice recognition (i.e. Nintendogs). Backwards compatiablity with GBA Games is a plus! -Cant think of any ;p
-System Software (Operating system, Menu Screens, layout, etc): 6/10 +Pictochat (?), built in calendar, built in digital clock, web browser, Camera/Photos in DSi (which I didnt have) for the NDS. For the Wii, the channels were a good addition and it had a few good features, but nothing praiseworthy. - Cant edit background and cant edit the layout for the NDS. As for the Wii, you would need to mod your wii to have full satisifaction imo lol. Nothing worthy to praise of.
*First Party Software: 10/10 +Lots of great First party titles: Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart Wii, Zelda TP, Zelda SS, Kirby RTD, Donkey Kong Returns, Pikmin Port, Metroid, Wii Sports (for casuals), Other wii mii related games (for casuals) and etc. -Cant think of any bad thing about the 1st party titles, everything was balanced.
*Third Party Software: 3/10 +Only a few good games but even some of those good games were actually not as good as the competitor system's third party software: Xenoblade Chronicles, Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3, and.....cant think of anything else that was good... -Lots of terrible games: Soul Calibur Legends, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles DS Port (terrible resolution), Arc Fantasia (Terrible resolution and gameplay), Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers (someone must of been high when they made this game), etc.
*Arcade-Download Software: 6/10 +NES, SNES, N64, Master System, Genesis, TG-16 PC Engine, Neo Geo, Commodore 64, MSX and Virtual Arcade games available. -Pretty much all of the downloadable games are available for emulation except for the Virtual Arcade games lol.
* Online functions (Netplay, etc): 4/10 +You can connect online to play which is good lol, first portable system to allow you to play online (?) -Terrible connection (for the console) and terrible security for their Pokemon online mode as well for the Pokemon DS games (russians hacked the trading place).
*Capabilities (Music, Videos, Photos, etc): 5/10 +The NDS is able to get on a browser and use picto chat.... The Wii is able to show netflix and has some other less stellar features available for the Wii Channel system. -You would need a flash cart to enjoy the full features of a NDS what it is capable to do I mean. The Wii has nothing worthy of mentioning in any of the listed departments (music, videos (except for netflix, and photos). (unless I missed something o.o)
*Controllers and Motion controls: 8/10 +Good motion controls, lots of compatiability with alot of games even for the newly released controls after the wii-mote. Lots of options to use as a controller for the Wii such as the Wiimote, Classic controller or the GCN (Wheel is available for MKW). Nintendo DS is not rated in this category.
Overall Score: 61/100
Sony *Console Hardware (PS3 Slim) : 7/10 +Slim and lightweight compared to the other PS3 model. Nice and sexy design as always for a Sony console. -No HDMI cable included,No backwards compatiability, the fat ps3's skin design was better, not alot of colors to choose from.
*Portable Hardware (PSP 1000 series): 10/10 +Decent Size, sexy design, sexy screen. Decent battery life. USB Connectivity and memory cards of different varieties available. -Abit heavyweight compared to the NDS Lite.
*System Software (Operating system, Menu Screens, layout, etc): 10/10 +XMB is possibly one of the best things made this gen for both PS3 and PSP. You can edit the buttons (if you modded your PSP/PS3), you can change the background and the order of the layouts. So many available options. -Cant think of any.
*First Party Software: 7/10 +Lots of good first party software: Uncharted, God of War, LocoRoco, Littlebigplanet, Resistance, KillZone, Sly, Jak and Daxter series, Ratchet and Clank, etc. -Most if not all games targeting western audiences, Japanese/Anime like fans will be disappointed. First party software not as well known as Nintendo's King like Franchises.
*Third Party Software: 10/10 +PS family is the king of third party software. PS3 has a decent array of genres and the PSP is the portable king of RPGs this generation. Way more good titles than on either of the Nintendo systems. -There are always bad software on every system but the good outweight the bad for the PS family.
*Arcade-Download Software: 6/10 +PS1, PS2 and a few new arcade like games available for the PSN. -PS1 games are already fully available on emulation. PS2 is close to it,and Sony barely released PS2 games for their PSN this year. Arcade games are a plus over the Wiiware games.
*Online functions (Netplay, etc): 8/10 +PSN Net play is free, connection is better than Nintendo's. -PSN was hacked a few times, shut down a few times, long maintenance hours.
*Capabilities (Music, Videos, Photos, etc): 9/10 +Fully able to play Music, Videos and Photos on either PS3/PSP. Netflix -Not all formats are supported. Video Editing software available but its garbage.
*Controllers and Motion controls: 7/10 +Dualshock 3 is still one of the best controllers (Dualshock family wise). -Sixaxis is garbage, instead of focusing on motion controls, they should of focused on other aspects instead of imitating Nintendo. Havent used Move and never will.
Overall Score: 74/100
CANT RATE XBOX360 because I dont have one lol
