i look at DMC4 Dante and i cringe at what Capcom did with him. they westernised his design, the red cowboy boots look ridiculous. and its not cool at all. i was extremely unhappy with the westernised design from DMC4. i'm happy they've given NT a chance to do something more interesting, because the dialogue and the story in that game were borderline nauseating.
the Bayonetta comment... this is actully true, Bayonetta is Japanese. her clothes come off all the time in the game. this female objectification is something you tend to find in a Japanese game. it is ridiculous.
its depressing that developers cant make reasonable comments about things. Tameen hasnt grossly offended those games or fans, he actully said why he dosent like it. and if you look at what he said its not without truth. fans are simply looking for new ways to discredit a developer who actully havent done anything wrong.
and we dont know if Hideki Itsuno or the team at Capcom want to make these games anymore. they made 3 DMC games, they might not want to do it anymore. which is why Itsuno is also directing Dragon's Dogma. it might be because he wants to do something different with his career.
besides i look at every game Capcom have made this console generation, and i dont see DMC5 being anything special after their performance this generation.

My point wasn't that Bayonetta isn't Japanese in style. I was taking issue with using the word 'Japanesey' and his view that Japanese style isn't cool.
Dante doesn't wear cowboy boots in DMC4 so I'm not sure what game you played. He wears combat styled boots with leather chaps over the top. However even if he did, cowboy style boots were and still are pretty popular in Tokyo/Osaka etc. It's started moving back towards a rounded toe boot for men much like the ones Dante wears in DMC4. I also know quite a few Japanese brands where you could find clothes similar to his style. It really wasn't very Westernised at all. Well unless we want to take a very classical view that wearing jeans etc instead of Yukata is Western, however if that is the case then Dante was never Japanese in style.
I still think Devil May Cry's style is cool. Give me over stylized compared to drab and boring any day. I'm not sure who at Ninja Theory thought wearing a wife beater was cool, perhaps someone who watches Jersey Shore?
Also the main games capcom made this generation and their scores on gamerankings? Dead Rising (85%), Lost Planet (79%), DMC4 (84%), Street Fighter 4 (93%), Marvel Vs Capcom 3 (86%), RE5 (87%).
Games capcom put in the hands of western developers? Bionic Commando (73%) and Dark Void (62%).
Then Dead rising 2 which was given to a Western developer but kept almost everything identical to the Japanese game got 80%. Lost Planet 2 was Capcom saying they were attempting to Westernise their own game, which didn't go so well (70%)!
So basically every single game they gave to a western developer or tried to westernise turned out very badly. Every game they kept Japanese did well. So you think giving DMC to a western developer to westernise is a good idea? Capcom have been giving games to Western developers or trying to Westernise their games for years now. It always ends badly. This year we will also get to see how RE: Operation Racoon City (Western) does compared to RE6 (Japanese)

THIS, its also the underlining problem with Japanese publishers this gen across the board some worse(Capcom,SE) than others (Ninty, Sega). For some reason these guys have a hardon for making their games western?? Thats stupid. Thats like entering a Tai chi competition knowing damn well you can only box, makes no sense. Let the damn western devs do their thing and Japan you do your thing, it worked out that well for decades, dont know why they wanna change now. SE took a smart route by acquiring actual western devs, they can have both sides of the globe. FF13 notwithstanding of course.
OT, this game could be good, but this is NT, there track record has not been great, it hasnt been bad, but not great
