To be fair, there was really nothing Square could have done to appease them. Final Fantasy fans set themselves up for failure. Hype too much, so that it never lives up to standards, or they don't like it and then don't even try to give it a chance.

As for the reviewers, the scores of 8/10 are by no means bad at all. In fact MORE games need to be scored 8/10 rather then 9.0/9.5/10.

Quite a few over scored games this past year.


this makes no sense, if we didnt like it, why would we give the sequel a chance?? If you go see a movie and you hated the script, story and characters, why the hell would you see the sequel knowing it was done by the same writers as the original? You wouldnt.

Sure. If you don't like it then simply say that and walk away. However FF fans simply continue to badger, and badger for the hell of it. They don't understand when to let go. They'll take shit about it all day long because it suddenly became the cool thing to do. Even if they have never played it. I've seen some posts where people didn't like FF7, and refused to play Crisis Core or DoC, and continously called them shit games even after having never tried them.

Hell look at Final Fantasy XI. It's an amazing MMO. However FF fans criticize the shit out of it because it's an "online" game. Therefore it sucks and doesn't exist. They never touched it though.


I get that, but try to understand, to some this is an important series so they hate it when it turns into something they think it shouldnt be. Not saying it right, but it is what it is, but they should chill a bit. i dont think it became cool to crap on FF13, call me naive but most of the people who say they hate it have played it and they have proven they have played it, there not bashing just to bash, they have legitimate grievances. I dont like FF13, and i have made points as to why I disliked it and i have never been challenged on them, because i backed up my statements. Im not gonna complain at every opportunity. FF13-2 has improved the battle system, but the story is still kind of weak, which is what most reviewers were saying anyway. If people want it, get it. Have fun but I will pass.

FYI I dont like MMOs but i can recognize when something is well done and FF11 was well done, not sure about 14..
