I'm not sure I understand the question..it was always wifi only and 3g/wifi model ...they have different bundles and promotions but sku wise those two were there from the start

When it was initially announced, the 3G version didn't have Wi-Fi compatibility. Right? No? I seem to remember this being part of the literature.

Simply, no. It would mean no online multiplayer in 3G only version. I don't know anyone who pays more to get less. Oh wait, I know a certain group :).

2. and you can do multiplayer using wifi on that model right?

Of course. There are two models one with wifi and the other with wifi/3G. Both can do multiplayer perfectly fine with wifi. Over 3G there is no multiplayer in most games, very limited options in a few games.

@khuutra: maybe it's because everyone keeps on refering to it as the 3g model and focus on the 3g bit only.
