All the KH games are of importance story wise.
Even Coded had a certain significance to the overarching story. It's more of a case of I don't really care for this particular event in the KH lore, as opposed to it being insignificant.
It would be like saying FF7 Crisis Core is just purely a cash grab spin off when it explains in more detail an important event that occurred in FF7.
