I disagree and adgree on some levels.

1. to say they would've done it by now is not necessarily true. SE have said the FF7 compilation is not over. i heard the compilation will finish on the 20th anniversary of FF7s release. so i expect it will be remade then.

3. i dont think it would take that long to be honest. a remake is comparable to the scale of other games like GTA, Skyrim, Assassin's Creed. the problem with FF13 was the Crystal Tools game engine. the biggest problem was the motion capture for 6 hours of poorly scripted, poorly execuited cutscenes. so i really dont want them to do a remake. these developers don't seem to realise that cutscenes on the same level of FF13 would completely ruin FF7, look at Dirge of Cerberus or FF13.

4. i think the journalist in question has it a bit wrong here. Enix, Edios, Sqaure and whoever are all part of the same company now. its not like Enix will lend Sqaure the resouces to remake FF7, Wada runs the company he will decide how to allocate resources for games. and i think Sqaure are fine with the finances. its not like their broke. the year FF13 released was their most profitable year ever.

5. FF7 should not be remade now. the current developers at SE are completely out of tune with their demographic. FF13, Dirge of Cerberus, The 3rd Birthday, etc prove these guys would spoil FF7 with a remake. they really need to find success with another title before they are allowed to touch this masterpeice. especially since their is no Sakaguchi to lead them now.
