Nah it's way too early. Look at music cds - they are still here despite mp3 revolutionizing the market.

Why do you need a dedicated games machine to play physical media.

Because while there's no problem to incorporate functions of cd/dvd/br player , pvr device and netflix receiver into a gaming machine - same cannot be done with a classic Hi-fi set.

Cost of hardware needed for core gaming experience is too high to incorporate them into whole mass market.

Exactly, so you can buy a blu ray player with pvr and multimedia capability from Panasonic or you buy the same with a gaming platform built in from Sony....  That sony device isn't a dedicated gaming device is it.  You missed the point... and the guy from paradox also misses the point and seems oblivious to the world outside of PC.

The one who is missing the point is you since you concentrate on semantics too much to understand what they guy wanted to say. And even in semantics  you are wrong since the guy didn't say dedicated.

Gaming device is a device created with gaming as it's main intended feature - if you don't understand the difference look at smartphone - that's a general device with gaming functionality - then look at Vita - that's a device designed with gaming as it's reason of existence which supports non gaming functions like web browsing or social media.
