The 360 and PS3 are more than just gaming machines.
There will still be a place for convergent devices. Tv set top, media streaming, gaming, etc etc all in one box.
Such is the tragedy of the industry, i suppose. The only thing we can hope for is that Nintendo doesn't get too fixated on this social networking/dlc/online play/multimedia malarkey as well, or else we'll all have to pour out a sacrificial libation for the utter annihilation of a once-proud industry

Yes ... Nintendo home console install base was growing smaller and smaller up until Wii, in which a bunch of casual/non gamers jumped on board. You can tell from the SW and its sales there are few true gamers on the Wii.
Not enough crappy fps games for the true 14 year old hardcore gamers.
