Kinect isn't the only camera with this inside. Kinect SDK is what really makes voice commands easy with Kinect. It's a Kinect only feature because MS wants it that way. They are the only one trying to sell you a "magic camera". It's hype and nothing more. |
It surprises me how many here dont know anything about this.
the reason why its only Kinect is Kinects own software. MS spent alongtime designing the voice recogniion software for Kinect. It requires no set up when starting a game usng voice because Kinects sofware is dong the legwork, not the developers game. It has nothing to do with Kinect hardware, its the software that goes with Kinect.
Tom Clancys End War a game which used headset for voice control with terrible results is prime example of a game where te developer had to reate their own voice rcognition software. It required 10 mins to set up and barely worked.
Kinect an its taylored made software negate the need for developers own software. And the devs already know Kinects software works and works well. Te latest dash update included upgrades to Kinects voice recognition software. Microsoft are gatthering data ever day from people using Kinect that agree to sending samples t Microsoft. I'm on of those people. All around the world 360's send MS data on Voice recognition so improvements can be made to Kinects software.
