Whether or not this particular rumor is credible, I believe that this is the case. I don't think that Microsoft will make their new console a focus at their E3 '12 presentation.
I do think they could mention their next-gen plans, possibly even showing some target videos, but I believe that anyone expecting anything as extensive as what we saw of Wii U last year is going to be disappointed.
