| Marks said: Yes, by a mile. Let's compare the companies: Nintendo: - Hasn't made a top notch new IP since Pikmin on the Gamecube (Wii series hardly counts), just continually relies on proven franchises like Mario, Zelda and Metroid - With the exception of Zelda SS, has completely left the Wii out to rot the past 2 years or so - Focused entirely on the casual audience with lame add-ons, accessories and party games, and left the core Nintendo fan out to dry - Haven't done anything to try to bring in 3rd party games - Lame online network with horrible friend codes - Don't bring in the latest technology, i.e. 1080p, 3D, etc. But I will admit this could be argued as a good thing, since it allowed them to launch it at $250 Microsoft: - Care more about Kinect than making good new exclusives. I can count the good 1st party exclusives on my left hand: Halo, Forza, Fable....that's all I've got - Released a console that's failure rate was astronomical early on. If they hadn't been in such a rush to release in 2005 they could have put more R&D into their console to make it better. - I may be off on this one, but wasn't it discovered that for like $1 or $2 more per console they could have made the disk treys better so they don't scratch disks all the time? Disk scratching was a huge deal early on. - Charge $60/year for online, which really isn't any better than PSN besides party chat and more user friendliness (plus they put ads all over the screen which Sony doesn't do) - You have to pay extra for a Charge and play kit, Sony's controllers are all rechargable by an included USB cable - The one key thing MS does do though is get all the good 3rd party games, and their console is easy to develop for so it gets better versions than the PS3 Sony: - Sold their console at a loss so it was relatively more affordable for people - Doesn't charge for online when nobody would blame them if they did - Brings us the best technology (1080p, Blu-ray, built in wifi, etc. all from launch) - Has the most new IP's, just this gen off the top of my head I can think of Heavy Rain, Resistance, Uncharted, LBP, Modnation racers and MAG...in addition to sequels of past gen games we all love - They jumped on the motion controls bandwagon...but it hasn't become their primary focus like with Nintendo and MS. I think I've seen more ads for Uncharted 3 than I have for PS Move All that being said, I only own a 360 right now. I'm willing to pay the $60/year since it's the console all my friends play and party chat is amazing. I'm not saying any of the consoles are bad, but Sony definitely cares way more about their customers and don't make it as obvious that they just want our money. |
Could not have said it any better Marks. :)
Long Story short. Sony has sacrificed alot more this gen then their competition has, And it was not all just to make a profit, But rather to ensure the PS3 would always have the best possible gaming experince out of the 3...
