Nice. Tell me about Gods of the Arena and Vengeance. About Rome, I was excited at first but after a while I realized it was too much "Dallas". The acting was sloppy and the overall atmosphere too lighthearted and comical. Also there were hardly any battle scenes and the scenerey/architecture wasn't that impressive. |
I thought Rome had some great performances (particularly Marc Antony and Cicero). The architecture was certainly impressive, and it didn't have a lot of battle scenes because it was a dialogue-focused show. Different strokes for different folks
As for Spartacus, you essentially have the first season of the show (Spartacus: Blood and Sand). It focuses on the rise of Spartacus as a gladiator and his beginning as the leader of the slave rebellion. Gods of the Arena is a prequel series which focuses on the rest of the gladiators in the school before the arrival of Spartacus and the events leading up to Blood and Sand. It is equal to if not better than Blood and Sand in quality. Vengeance is the upcoming second season of the show which I'm looking forward to greatly, although it will feature a different actor in the role of Spartacus.
Edit: I would recommend watching Blood and Sand before Gods of the Arena so you know the characters better and you can better understand their development in the prequels.
