The problem with that, is that I'd still be paying for them to go to this camp. To be perfectly clear, I couldn't care less if people want to be morbidly obese. It's their choice. But I don't want any part in that. Any part. Meaning I don't want any of my money going to them unless I decide to do it myself. So really, I'd like the government to not give them anything at all.

Yeah, but like it or not, most people believe it is up to the government to DO SOEMTHIN BOUT IT!!!!! about every single problem. Even if that problem is something like too many people being big fucking fat asses. So the least we can do is treat people who want to live on the taxpayer's dime like the wards of the state that they are. It is at least a more equitable and logical arrangement than proclaiming sovereignty over your body while insisting that other people have a moral obligation to pay for its upkeep.

Oh, I know, and it's irritating. I'm not against the idea, as long as it's not spending yet more money. That's my ideal solution though; to give them nothing. But until then, I see no problem with making them have to do something like this to actually get the money. Shame neither is likely to happen anytime soon.
