You think it's a coincidence that the country they're buying weapons from is the one lending them money? Germany and the Eurozone have complete control over Greece. Hell even the Prime Minister was forced to resign and they appointed someone else themselves. Democracy has pretty much collapsed in Greece. Then again, it's easier to judge someone by reading one article than knowing most of the facts. |
Finally someone says what must be said. This is nothing new since the bailouts started, Portugal and Ireland themselves were forced to buy weapons from the germans and the french as part of the bailout deals.
Funny thing though, Portugal bought two submarines from the Germans back in 2004, before this whole crisis started. Until today, we've only received one submarine, which was in poor conditions and the other is nowhere to be seen, because the military "contractor" was just a front cover for a german tax-evasion company which ran away with the 250M€ Portugal paid for each submarine. Of course, the Portugal Minister of Defense back then (Paulo Portas) had much of the blame himself, and there's a trial going on still to find out the truth behind it, unfortunatly, with Portas as Minister of Foreign Relations now, that trial is been put on "hold".
Just one of the many poor, shoody and let's say it, shitty deals, the "periphery" eurozone countries have had with the central eurozone powers, germany and france.
